
The main collection of the Paper Museum is constituted by its buildings, exemplary of the traditional architecture of paper manufacturing, from ancient 19th century papermaking units.
Besides the buildings, there are also artifacts and machinery from these and other ancient factories from the main Portuguese papermaking regions, employed on paper manufacturing / fabrication in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, as well as documental heritage about the history of paper in Portugal.

The Collections Management Service assures the protection of the Museum collections, being responsible for the management, conservation, inventory and study of the pieces, as well as for the management of the Museum’s Document Center, which includes a thematic library about the history of paper and an archival section.
