Inaugurated on October 26, 2001, the Paper Museum of Santa Maria Lands is the first museological space dedicated to the history of paper in Portugal.

Since 1708, the paper industry has been an influential and defining element of Santa Maria da Feira and other neighboring municipalities to the development of this region. The importance of the paper industry, from ancient times until today, clearly justifies the creation of a monographic museum dedicated to the history of paper. In addition, this new museological proposal also fills a gap in the Portuguese industrial museology. 

The Paper Museum, property of Santa Maria da Feira Municipality, belongs to the Division of Cultural Action and Tourism.

This Museum was integrated into the Portuguese Museum System since May 18, 2002.
